SHOT Show
Each year the hunting industry gets together for the annual SHOT Show. SHOT
is short for Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade. This year was the 26th
anniversary for the show that brings exhibitors and attendees from around
the world. This year it was held in Las Vegas and virtually every
manufacturer of any kind of product targeting the shooter and hunter was
there. This show is where manufacturers introduce their new products to the
market place. These products will generally be found in sporting good stores
later this year.
I spent 4 days looking at as many outdoor toys as I could. Here is a review
of some of the interesting, new products that caught my eye:
Gerber Legendary Blades makers of cutlery for the outdoorsmen introduced the
changeable blade knife to their Freeman Series. With only a touch of a
button located on the handle, the blade is easily removed and another blade
inserted. This knife has 3 different blades (skinning, gut hook and saw) and
is perfect for the hunter that wants to do a lot of work with only one
knife.
Mossy Oak introduced a new pattern called “Obsession.” This new pattern has
the best features of all Mossy Oak patterns combined and is designed to be
effective in both woodland and non-woodland environments.
Sentry Safes hit the market with an entry-level gun safe that will retail
for less than $100.00. Sentry, one of the best-known safe companies in
attendance seems to be looking at the gun safe market differently than their
competition. Rather than focus on high-end safes costing several thousand
dollars, that look more like furniture than a safe, they have scaled down
many cosmetic features yet retained quality and safe security. They are
hitting the market with very competitive pricing that will allow just about
any outdoorsman to purchase one and they can be found at Academy Sports &
Outdoors.
Extreme Dimensions Electronic game calls have now introduced a complete line
of wireless electronic calls. These competitively priced calls will allow
the user to sound more authentic than ever before by only pushing a button.
Plano Molding introduced their new crossbow case. This roomy case holds
crossbows fully assembled and has every feature I could ever want, including
enough room to case my crossbow with my quiver still attached.
Tilia, manufacturers of the Foodsaver vacuum packaging folks demonstrated
their new Professional II Turbo model that now features 2 air pumps. This
additional pump provides up to 30% increase in time removing the air. By
foodsaving your fish and game, you’ll extend the freezer life of your meat
up to three years protecting it from freezer burn. They have also acquired a
new line of grinders and stuffers for those of you who like to process your
own meat.
